The Arts Council of St. Charles County is accepting applications for $500 scholarships awarded in instrumental music, vocal music, visual arts, performing arts, and journalism to graduating seniors from St. Charles area high schools. Last year with the help of sponsors, we gave five scholarships to deserving students. Applicants must have demonstrated a passion for the arts, a commendable academic record, and excellent teacher recommendations. Applications and additional information are available at www.stcharlesart.org. Deadline is March 15, 2009.

In 2008 the Arts Council selected five graduating high school seniors who demonstrated a passion for the arts, a commendable academic record, and excellent teacher recommendations. They are Yin Yu, Timberland High School, Instrumental Music; Brittany Robertson, Holt High School, Print Journalism & Visual Art; Emily Struemph, Francis Howell High School, Visual Art; Erica Struemph, Francis Howell High School, Visual Art; and Jeffery Collier, St. Charles West, Instrumental Music.
The $500 scholarships will be awarded to each recipient at the St. Charles Arts Council’s Annual Meeting on August 4, 2008. We would like to thank all who applied, and we would especially like to thank Ameren UE, Help Me Afford College/EFFAS, Renaissance St. Louis, and SSM- St. Joseph Hospital West for helping us reach our goal. We are looking forward to having these sponsors present the checks on August 4.
