Arts Happening for Kids 2008!
Saturday, February 23 was a day to honor the arts and to provide children a variety of opportunities to learn about and experience the arts. The St. Charles County Arts Council offered two sessions at the St. Peters City Hall. Children participated in quality offerings and projects and received tote bags to carry home their treasures.
Children danced with Renaissance St. Louis, and they learned to carve soap into animals with the help of the Greater St. Charles Woodcarvers.  The Alliance for Astronomy gave presentations on constellations and assisted children with projects that emphasized the solar system and stars.  Wild Bird Rehabilitation shared the work they do with caring for injured and orphaned birds and provided projects that encourage   observation and protection of the birds. The Golden Gate Dulcimer Club instructed   children and adults on playing the mountain and hammer dulcimers.  Leftovers, Inc. helped children in making shields.  Band Instrument Service Company assisted    children with experimenting with various musical instruments. Children and adults were truly impressed by the quality and professionalism of the St. Charles County Youth            Orchestra.
The presenters and volunteers did a superb job bringing the arts to the children. We thank them for their generous contribution of time, patience, and enthusiasm.  All of the children had fun-filled learning experiences and enjoyed the day with their parents. It was a wonderful day of sharing the arts!
